The Plantronics UKDota.net Invitational Play-day Three round up.

Plantronics Invitational

Today we saw the semi finals of The Plantronics UKDota.net Invitational featuring eight of the best teams in the UK, we've put together a run down of todays games. Who will be the victor in the claim for spoils from Plantronics Gamecom and The Creative Assembly.

Match One.

Versus

Naix on a Plane

Wat A Stack

Game 1

Bans

Picks

An intelligent draft and strategy from Naix on a Plane was almost enough to knock Wat a Stack off their stride, with enough disable in team fights to allow Dragon Knight and Lifestealer to dish out the damage, they looked to be in a good position to take the win. Some excellent dynamic moves across the map from the Lifestealer bomb, enabled by the shadow blade on Dragon Knight allowed them to keep down Shadow Fiend's item progress. This was somewhat balanced by the Batrider's ability to build up large amounts of gold and isolate one of their core heroes and drag them into a deadly combo of requiem of souls and soul assumption. In the mid-game, Naix on a Plane fell short of glory. Most notably a head on 5v5 clash at the mid lane, where song of the siren overlapped the fiends grip and caused all sorts of problems with their compositional synergy and allowed Wat a Stack to take a commanding lead and control the tempo of the rest of the game.

Game 2

Bans

Picks

With Wat a Stack picking up Outworld Devourer, it was up to Naix on a Plane to pick a line-up which could deal with him. Razor was the hero of choice to lead the charge, going tête-à-tête with the OD. Whether it was a case of nerves getting the better of him or a skill difference between the solo mid players, lack of creep equilibrium control allowed the OD to get the better of the razor, a lane in which the latter should dominate. Couple this incredibly strong start for their solo mid with an amazingly farmed Timbersaw allowed their team to take smaller skirmishes behind enemy tier 1 towers and increase their already substantial gold and experience lead. In the latter stages of the game, all Naix on the Plane could do to stay in the game was picking off the Gyrocopter when they could and attempt to split push with Alchemist and Nature's Prophet. Once BKBs were acquired by the OD and gyrocopter, this was no longer viable as the Radiant side started to death ball towards the Dire barracks and end the game in a convincing manner.

Match Two.

rOtK

Reason Gaming

Game 1

Bans

Picks

Reason set off into this game expecting a skirmish, full utilizing their double banish to allow them to come out quids even or up in some cases, meant a slow and steady climb towards complete map control and rOtK being unable to team fight from behind, ending up with Reason slowly assailing the barracks until rOtK called the GG.

Game 2

Bans

Picks

In complete contrast to game one of the series, Reason set out with a rather unique strategy of Queen of Pain and Abbadon on the hard lane. A risky strategy that didn't work out leaving Anti-Mage fed and free farming, the worst combination. The game kept spiraling for Reason with no return on the horizon, leading into rOtK claiming a perfect victory over Reason with their only close to death experience being an Aegis use.

Game 3

Bans

Picks

rOtK went into game three with momentum on their side, knowing that they'd put the tilt onto Reason in game two, they looked to press the weakness in Reason's draft with a clever aggressive trilane versus a poorly constructed defensive trilane. Reason unable to deward their pull camp, gained some respite by picking Gyrocopter off once or twice but then end result was mute as Lifestealer rotated from the Solo 1v1 shortlane where he'd successfully dashed Antab's Furion to the roadside and proceeded to wreak havoc with Puck using near non-stop Naix bombs. The Puck having outplayed mid proceed to roam around the map with Nyx Assassin and Lifestealer shutting any semblance of farm out from Reason, leading them to a very similar situation we saw in game one, complete map control & being able to win every team fight respectably.
